My Story
Before and After
There are moments that divide life into before and after.
For me, that moment was losing my beloved baby daughter, Freya. Named after the Norse goddess of love and beauty, I dreamed she would live a life filled with joy, laughter, and light — a life brimming with passion and zest.
But instead, I lost her far too soon, for reasons no one could explain. As a scientist, I had spent my career studying how life begins — yet when I faced the unbearable loss of my own child, no research or data could explain the silence that followed. My entire world stopped, and everything I thought I understood about life changed forever.
From Silence to Purpose
As a mother, it felt as though my heart had been ripped from my chest.
The question that echoed endlessly within my mind was simply: “Why? Why did this happen to us?” There were no answers — only deafening silence.
And yet, within that silence, something began to stir — the faint spark of a purpose I couldn’t yet name. In my deepest grief, I reached for something that reminded me of home:
a small chili-shaped earring, a symbol of my hometown in Italy. I placed it beside Freya as a gesture of love, strength, and protection. That simple act became a reminder that even in the darkest moments, love finds new ways to live on.
Born from Love, Guided by Hope
From that love, From Freya was born — born from loss, but guided by hope. Through this initiative, I’m turning pain into purpose: funding perinatal research and supporting families who face the same heartbreak. Every donation, every item you purchase, fuels science that saves lives and brings comfort to those who need it most.
